Account Linking
This guide explains how to link accounts in games and web services.
This feature is a means to enhance user login convenience, and linking is optional for the user.
What is Account Linking?
Account linking is a new feature that supports maintaining a single game data across different accounts without distinction.
The linked accounts will share one player ID.
However, upon first login, if the user logs in with a different IDP that has the same email information as another IDP for the same game, a separate player ID will be created.
Currently, on mobile game platforms, logging in with different IDP information on the same app is recognized as creating a different player ID.
Depending on the game service policy, linking between different IDPs can be provided.
Conditions for Account Linking
The IDP to be linked must be in a state where it can log in successfully.
The player ID must not already exist for the same game (including cases where the account is in a withdrawal pending state).
The account must be in a normal status.
Conditions Where Account Linking is Not Possible
Linking between identical IDPs is not allowed.
Re-linking to the same IDP (not the actual account, but Google IDP to Google IDP) within 7 days of unlinking is not allowed.
Linking is not possible in case of partial account mismatches.
Linking is not allowed between countries if the information differs (for global services, to prevent abuse).
Linking is not allowed in case of CI mismatches (if applicable; not applicable to mobile).
How to Link Accounts
[Ingame] Settings > Account
After logging into the game, access the account-related menu from the game settings.
Display the list of IDPs allowed by the game launch policy.
Select the IDP to link > log in to the IDP > agree to the third-party information provision by the IDP then linking is complete.
